Description
Potentilla nepalensis ‘Miss Willmott’ is a very attractive and new semi-dwarf cultivar that grows 30 to 45cm (12 to 18in) tall and has gorgeous crimson-eyed, bright pink flowers, with petals that are attractively crinkled. Flowering over a long period, new buds open repeatedly in a long succession, from late June to September. Potentillas are excellent filler-plants, they hold their own without displacing surrounding perennials. They are easy, pest and disease resistant and will repeat flower if cut back regularly. They are fine border plants, useful in containers and look good in a sunny cottage garden, raised bed or rock garden. They are extremely cold-hardy (to minus 29°C (-20°F)) and are also suitable for coastal conditions.
These established plants have been grown at our nursery in Cornwall and are supplied in 1 litre containers (the price is for 2 plants). They will grow to an ultimate height of about 45cm (18in) with a similar spread.
Growing Advice
Potentillas grow well in sun or light shade, in any reasonable soil which is not too wet. Keep them deadheaded to ensure a long display of flowers.
