Description
Linaria purpurea ‘Cannon Went’ is an easy-to-grow perennial that always has a hum of activity around it in summer as the tall, open flowers are a draw for pollinators of all sorts. The foliage is delicate and neat, growing in an upright fashion, with slim, grey-green, slightly glaucous leaves. From mid-summer the plant puts up spires full of buds that have a bronze-purple colouration, that then later open into delicate soft-pastel pink snapdragon flowers with attractively reflexed petals. Also great for cut flowers and definitely a plant that we think should be grown more than it is – if dead-headed and in a sunny spot the flowers will go on all summer.
These established, garden-ready plants have been grown at our nursery in Cornwall, and are supplied in 2 litre containers. They will grow to an ultimate height of around 90cm (3 feet) with a spread of around half of that.

Growing Advice
This is relatively simple plant to grow – give it as much sun and you can and decent drainage to help it through the winter. It will naturalise in a border over time, but as it is quite a delicate plant will appreciate a little space if planted in a mixed border to get established. Once the flowers are over the spikes can be cut down, and you should find the plant obliging with repeat flowering through summer.
