Potentilla recta

Upright hardy perennial potentilla with soft yellow flowers in summer

Established plants in 2 litre containers

Description

Potentilla recta is a lovely wildflower native to much of Europe that will grow in a range of garden situations. It has typical cinquefoil leaves, which are neatly divided and textured, and grow in neat dense clumps. The foliage mounds up throughout the growing season and the plant starts to produce its flowers from early summer, most prolifically in mid-summer but flowers appear throughout the growing season. The small, neat flowers are held close to the mounding foliage and are usually a soft pale yellow, through richer yellow tones are not uncommon.
These established, garden-ready plants have been grown at our nursery in Cornwall in peat-free compost and supplied in 2 litre containers. They will grow to an ultimate height of around 60cm (2 feet or so) with a similar spread.

Growing Advice

Potentillas grow well in sun or light shade, in any reasonable soil which is not too wet. Keep them deadheaded to ensure a long display of flowers. This variety works particularly well in informal settings but in truth is completely adaptable and will work in a range of garden schemes.
