Dahlia ‘Happy Single Kiss’

Beautiful bronze-leaved compact Dahlia with soft peachy-apricot single flowers

Established, Garden-Ready Plants in 2-Litre Containers

Description

Dahlia ‘HS Kiss’ (Happy Single Kiss) is a fast-growing and eye-catching compact Dahlia that brings an elegant, contemporary look to summer and autumn gardens. It produces a striking, continuous display of single, daisy-like blossoms with soft peach-apricot and baby pink petals. These are set off by a distinct raspberry-red central ring and a chocolate-yellow honeycomb eye. The flowers rise above a neat, bushy mound of dramatic dark bronze-purple foliage, which combines to create an absolute standout display from mid-summer onwards. It is a perfect fit for patio containers, sunny courtyard displays, or mixed borders where its high-contrast colors offer an exotic look.

Growing Advice

Dahlia ‘HS Kiss’ does best in a bright, sheltered position in full sun. It prefers moderately fertile, moist but reliably well-drained soil; it dislikes sitting in heavy, waterlogged ground. This variety is exceptionally fast-growing and trouble-free, performing beautifully at the front of mixed borders or inside patio pots. Deadhead spent flowers to keep it flowering heavily right until the winter frosts, and apply a liquid potassium feed in high summer to maximise flower power. Like all Dahlias it is not frost-hardy so lift and shelter the tubers indoors over the winter months – though they may survive in the ground in milder parts of the country protected by a heavy mulch over winter.

Before ordering with us please make sure you read the pages below to help you understand what to expect when buying plants online from a nursery such as ours. For instance the photographs in our listings are intended to give you an impression of our plants in their mature (and usually flowering) form. The last photograph in this listing provides an indication of the size of the plant to expect when you buy from us. It is not a guarantee of the way the top growth will look when you receive the plant(s), as this will depend on the time of the season you have ordered the plant and it simply isn’t possible to provide photographs of the plants at every stage of growth during the year. Plants ordered in spring, autumn or winter for example may have much reduced or tired top growth that will regrow later in the season / the following season and you should be aware of this when ordering at these times. If you have any questions about the current condition of any of our plants please do get in touch, or see the links below for more information about what to expect.
