Description
Erigeron speciosus ‘Azure Fairy’ is a wonderful free-flowering hardy perennial plant with narrow, lance-shaped mid-green leaves and masses of lavender-coloured daisy-like flowers with yellow centres in a succession throughout summer. Like other Erigerons it is a reliable and adaptable plant suited to a range of garden schemes and locations, but that excels in rockeries or coastal garden schemes. The blooms are similar to those of a Michaelmas Daisy and will attract all manner of pollinators.
These young plants have been grown at our nursery in Cornwall and are provided in 9cm litre containers (the price is for three of these plants). They will grow to an ultimate height of about 50cm (20 inches) with a similar spread, and should flower from mid-summer onwards.
Growing Advice
Erigeron speciosus ‘Azure Fairy’ needs well-drained soil to really thrive, and as much sunshine as it’s possible to give it for maximum flowering. They will self-seed where happy but seedlings can be removed easily. They are best suited to front of borders or rockeries, and will also grow in crevices in rocks or paths (like their cousin Erigeron karvinskianus). They flower best on poorer soils.
