Description
Hylotelephium spectabile (formerly Sedum spectabile) ‘Autumn Joy’ is a very popular late-summer and autumn flowering plant, as good in containers as in near the front of borders. It has domes of salmon-pink flowers on top of healthy, glaucous succulent foliage, and will often hum with bees and other pollinators once the flowers open. If left to stand the dried flower heads provide a decorative architectural presence through winter.
These established, garden-ready plants have been grown at our nursery in Cornwall, and are supplied in 2 litre containers. They will flower from late summer into autumn and will grow to an ultimate height of 50cm (20 inches) with a similar spread.
Growing Advice
Sedums are great plants for drier areas. They are fully hardy and generally very tough plants. They do need a spot with very good drainage, as much sun as possible and to be kept clear of winter wet, but otherwise need little attention.
