Cymbalaria muralis (2 x 1 litre plants)

Trailing evergreen alpine plant with delicate snapdragon, lilac and blue flowers all summer long

Price is for two established plants in 1 litre containers

Description

Cymbalaria muralis, also called Kenilworth Ivy or the Ivy-leafed Toadflax, is a lovely delicate little plant found originally in rocky parts of southern Europe but naturalised in a number of areas throughout Europe, including the UK. It’s evergreen foliage has a lightly lobed shape, like a softer and smaller ivy leaf, and has the most delicate dusky pink colourations on the underside of the leaves. The diminutive flowers, like miniature snapdragon flowers, are lilac, blue and a soft yellow in colour, and appear all over the plant throughout spring and summer, over a long period. The plant scrambles and trails by habit, making it well-suited for a sloping rockery, in crevices in wallls, or as a ‘spiller’ plant trailing over the edge of a container.
These established plants have been grown in peat-free compost at our nursery in Cornwall, and are supplied in 1 litre containers. They will grow to around 10-15cm tall (4-5 inches), with a spread of around 30cm (12 inches).

Growing Advice

Kenilworth Ivy is dead easy to grow – just give it good drainage and a spot in at least partial sun and it’ll run away for you, producing flowers all summer long. It’s shallow-rooted, which makes it good for crevies and gaps that are otherwise hard to fill and easy enough to pull up where it runs into areas you don’t want it to grow!

Before ordering with us please make sure you read the pages below to help you understand what to expect when buying plants online from a nursery such as ours. For instance the photographs in our listings are intended to give you an impression of our plants in their mature (and usually flowering) form. The last photograph in this listing provides an indication of the size of the plant to expect when you buy from us. It is not a guarantee of the way the top growth will look when you receive the plant(s), as this will depend on the time of the season you have ordered the plant and it simply isn’t possible to provide photographs of the plants at every stage of growth during the year. Plants ordered in spring, autumn or winter for example may have much reduced or tired top growth that will regrow later in the season / the following season and you should be aware of this when ordering at these times. If you have any questions about the current condition of any of our plants please do get in touch, or see the links below for more information about what to expect.
