Myosotis sylvatica ‘Rosylva’

Woodland biennial with pretty pale-pink flowers in late spring and early summer

Price is for two plants in 1-litre containers

Description

Myosotis sylvatica (Wood Forget-me-not) ‘Rosylva’ is a charming short-lived perennial or biennial. This cultivar has masses of small, twinkling, pale-pink flowers that emerge in late spring and continue into early summer, providing great colour and brightness to shady spots in the tricky May gap. The flowers, which are loved by pollinators, are set off by the clumps of bright green foliage at the base. Though short-lived, Forget-me-nots will self-seed prolifically and persist in the garden for many years once established – if any emerge later in summer where they are not wanted it’s easy enough to move them in clumps. They are great low-maintenance options for the early summer and late spring garden, looking particularly good in woodland areas, underplanting shrubs, or massed under salmon or pink coloured tulips and late flowering daffodils.
These established plants have been grown in peat-free compost at our nursery in Cornwall and are supplied in 1 litre containers (the price is for two of these plants). They will grow to an ultimate height of about 15-30cm (6-12 inches) with a spread of around 60cm (24 inches).

Growing Advice

Though you can grow forget-me-nots in full shade or full sun, in nature they grow and flower under an emerging tree canopy, so they thrive in dappled shade with some protection from afternoon sun. They prefer soil that is reliably moist, and rich in organic material – think here of a woodland floor setting and you can’t go too wrong. They are generally free from pests and diseases.

Before ordering with us please make sure you read the pages below to help you understand what to expect when buying plants online from a nursery such as ours. For instance the photographs in our listings are intended to give you an impression of our plants in their mature (and usually flowering) form. The last photograph in this listing provides an indication of the size of the plant to expect when you buy from us. It is not a guarantee of the way the top growth will look when you receive the plant(s), as this will depend on the time of the season you have ordered the plant and it simply isn’t possible to provide photographs of the plants at every stage of growth during the year. Plants ordered in spring, autumn or winter for example may have much reduced or tired top growth that will regrow later in the season / the following season and you should be aware of this when ordering at these times. If you have any questions about the current condition of any of our plants please do get in touch, or see the links below for more information about what to expect.
