Geranium ‘Brookside’

Popular, reliable hardy geranium with mauve-blue flowers from early summer

Established plants in two-litre containers

Description

Geranium ‘Brookside’ is a popular and super reliable garden geranium known for its reliability, easy going nature and those strong, mid-blue flowers. The foliage is typical of other geraniums and is mid-green in colour and strongly divided, emerging in neat mounds that gradually spread through the season. From late May onwards the plant starts to put out its flowering stems. The flowers have a strong, slightly mauve-blue coloration with delicate red veining. Like many garden geraniums, Geranium ‘Brookside’ is an adaptable, easy-to-grow stalwart that provides long-lasting colour and a neat foliage presence in a range of garden conditions over a long season.
These established, garden-ready plants have been grown in peat-free compost at our nursery in Cornwall and are supplied in two-litre containers. They will grow to an ultimate height of about 60cm (24 inches) with a similar spread.

Growing Advice

Like most hardy geraniums, this is a very low maintenance, adaptable and reliable plant. It’s happy in a range of soils and needs nothing but a tidy up in spring, when you can cut all the old foliage back to the base to make way for the fresh foliage coming through. You can also do that once there are a few less flowers towards the end of summer to tidy it all up. In our experience it grows more compactly with more sun, but will flower happily in partial sun too.

Before ordering with us please make sure you read the pages below to help you understand what to expect when buying plants online from a nursery such as ours. For instance the photographs in our listings are intended to give you an impression of our plants in their mature (and usually flowering) form. The last photograph in this listing provides an indication of the size of the plant to expect when you buy from us. It is not a guarantee of the way the top growth will look when you receive the plant(s), as this will depend on the time of the season you have ordered the plant and it simply isn’t possible to provide photographs of the plants at every stage of growth during the year. Plants ordered in spring, autumn or winter for example may have much reduced or tired top growth that will regrow later in the season / the following season and you should be aware of this when ordering at these times. If you have any questions about the current condition of any of our plants please do get in touch, or see the links below for more information about what to expect.
